12 Signs You’re Wasting Your Life
When you were a teenager, how did you imagine your life when you’re all ‘grown up’?
Did you want to grow up to be an actor, a doctor, an athlete, an architect or a pilot?
Did you want to travel the world, raise a family, run a business or make a difference?
What were your dreams and aspirations, just before you joined the ‘real world’, the ‘grown-ups world’?
And, when you remember those dreams today, how many of them became a reality?
Hopefully, your life is going great and you are living the life of your dreams.
But if not (or not yet), here are 12 signs that you might be wasting your life… although you’d probably don’t want to admit it:
1. You can’t imagine living without your phone
It seems to me that the smarter our phones become, the more stupid we become.
For one week, write down exactly how many hours a day you waste by texting, emailing, Facebooking, playing games, commenting on your life or the lives of others – instead of living in the moment.
If the number of hours shocks you… do something about it.
2. You let distractions and interruptions fill your day
Your time is your most precious asset and the fastest way to waste it is by allowing distractions (like constantly checking our email and social media feeds) and interruptions (like answering every phone call and text message immediately and saying yes to every “got a minute?” request) to fill up your day.
Make one day a week distraction/interruption free day, and your life will never be the same.
3. You spend a big part of your week doing things you shouldn’t be doing
We all have our list of things we do that wastes our time, like watching TV, hanging out on Facebook, surfing the internet, playing video games, pointlessly arguing, reading the newspaper…
Where are you spending most of your time? Is it leading to a better life? Is it getting you closer to live the life of your dreams?
If not, then it’s time to make some changes.
4. You often find yourself complaining, blaming or making excuses
Do you complain about your job, the taxes or the weather or blame your boss, your spouse or the government or make excuses for being late, for not having enough money, for not being generous?
These victim habits keep you stuck…
It’s time to take responsibility for your life.
5. You don’t take care of your mind
When you don’t keep growing and learning, your mind falls asleep and decay. If you don’t want to develop dementia in a later stage of your life, you better challenge your brain to expand your mind.
When you’re ready to really take care of your mind… then join the Nisandeh Unplugged Facebook group and take a few minutes to watch the video question I post there every single day.
Each question aims to get your mind challenged and you to live more by design, and takes only a few moments to answer.
6. You don’t take care of your body
Your body needs healthy food, enough movement and good quality sleep to stay healthy and vital.
I know I’m not telling you anything new, but take a good look at your average week and honestly note how well do you take care of your body.
Don’t wait for a wake up call from your body…
At that time it’s usually too late.
7. You often put yourself down
If you tell yourself that you’re not smart enough to start a business, or that you’re too old to start a new profession, or that you’re too tired to put effort into creating the life of your dreams – then this will become your reality.
Change your thoughts and you WILL change your life.
8. You spend too much time with people who don’t empower you
Like it or not, if the people you spend most of your time with don’t make your life better, they automatically make it worse – if only because you can’t spend that time with someone better.
Stop spending time with ‘energy Vampires’ and instead hang out with those who will empower you.
9. You spend money on things that don’t matter
Most people I know totally forgot the difference between “need” and “want”.
We need food, water and shelter, we don’t need to go to a fancy restaurant to eat our food, we don’t need a big house, and we certainly don’t NEED the latest iPhone (although I know quite a few people that will argue on that one).
Put your priorities straight and your money will take you a lot further.
10. You rarely step out of your comfort zone
Living most of your life in the comfort and safety of your comfort zone will ultimately kill you.
When you’re in a non-challenging job for too long, your spirit dies.
When you’re in a non-growing relationship for too long, your heart closes.
When you never push your body to move, your heart stops…
Every day, do something that scares you…
11. You live a life that doesn’t fulfill you
Is your life filled with excitement, joy and happiness?
If not, then you should change something!
Are you trading your time today in order to live your dream life sometime in the future?
Start living the life of your dreams today, even if it is only for a day a week, or a month in a year…
And the biggest of them all:
12. You don’t have a plan for your future
I know, I know… it’s great to live in the “now” and “be in the moment,” but when you have no bigger plan for your life, you are like sitting in a boat in the ocean, hoping to end up somewhere…
If any of these 12 points sounded familiar, don’t lose hope.
You can make changes.
But the first change you need to make is get the point that to live the life of your dreams, you need to live them by design.
In the coming Living By Design master class I will show you exactly how to create that master plan for your life, which will help you stop wasting your life, and start living the life of your dreams today.
And until we meet in the Living By Design master class… Live fully, be awesome, Nisandeh Neta
